As income increases, the ratio of females to males who can, with understanding, read and write a short statement on their every day life increase as well. This can perhaps be explained because as money increases their access to education becomes much more accessible. Thus ranking them in a higher economic status.

POST 3

Blog Post # 3: If you were a voting American, who would you vote for in the up-coming Presidential Election? Defend your selection with specific points from each of the candidates platforms.

I would vote Democrat because among other things I feel president Obama deserves a second term to continue his efforts on improving the economy. What I like about president Obamas campaign is that he wants to implement a national health care program, a continued balanced approach at taxation in an effort to improve the economy without overly punishing any particular income class. Romney’s proposal to improve the economy is to cut 5 billion dollars in taxes to the wealthiest Americans, which will result in higher taxes for the low and middle class in order to raise sufficient money for the government to continue to operate without exceeding its debt ceiling. Romney doesn’t believe in a national health care system like the Canadians have, he feels each citizen should be responsible for their own health care provisions. The other major difference that sways my vote to the democrats is they are much more environmentally conscious to the proposed oil pipeline routes. They want careful environmental reviews of the proposed routes, which crosses some very fragile eco systems. Romney is on record as saying he will approve the pipeline route in his first day at office with no environmental review.

Blog Post #2: How does the death of America's Ambassador to Libya impact the Arab Spring Movement?

The death of the ambassador shows that the Arab Spring Movement is still being contested. We’ve come to understand that Libya is still a very dangerous place with forces loyal to the previous regime are still active and dangerous. This type of violent outbreak and attacks are still going to be a fairly common incidence for some time to come. The Arab Spring Movement may represent the majority of the population but there is still a portion of the population that doesn’t believe in the Arab Spring Movement.
