Connecticut Shooting Blog #6

What does this teach us about violence in society?

The shooting that took place in Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14th of 2012 was a devastating shock not only to Connecticut and the United States, but to people world wide. The mass shooting in Connecticut shocked us from not only the number of the deaths but also the ages and who had past. The targeting of innocent young children and teachers is not only horrific but also troubling. Why someone would want to target young children in a motiveless act is disturbing. Violence in society is becoming a lot more common and the prolific. In this instance the shooter used an automatic weapon with multiple high capacity magazines. Society is still stunned and confused with the rational of why the shooter would want to kill young children. It seems very evident that violent crime, especially using high powered weapons is become much more common in today's society.

  1. This was a terrible event that could have been prevented if the United States got a handle on their firearm laws. My prayers go out to the families. This event has sparked movements all around the world and I hope it opens the eyes of all Americans with firearms to keep them locked up and only limited to one per person (with a license)
