Israeli settlement building blog # 7

The Israeli settlement building in the E1 zone is a very contentious issue with no clear right or wrong answer of solution. This has been bred by the contempt and lack of trust that Arabs and the Israeli's have for each other. The Jewish people claim ancestral rights to the land but it was not part of the territory ceded to them after World War Two. Instead, the land was captured in the 1967 was and they have refused to return the land but have built on it instead. I think on this fact alone, Israel must not build on the E1 zone lands to preserve the peace treaty talks but also because all settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank are illegal under international law.

  1. Good points about the laws. This will only create more problems between Israel and Palestine.

  2. Good points shelbie! i agree that the fact israel is trying to build this settlement building is only going to increase tensions, in a situation that tension is already over heating.
